  921

Do you know that Georgia is a center for multiple religions?

In Georgia, various religions coexist and are represented, including Judaism, Catholicism, Sunni Islam, Georgian Orthodox Christianity, and Armenian Christianity.

Religious tourism is one of the purposes for tourists visiting Georgia. For example, Jews visit Oni and Akhaltsikhe to see the synagogues. On the other hand, Catholics visit villages such as Udiri, Kutaisi, Gori  and Tbilisi, where Catholic churches are located. Meanwhile, Muslims stay near the mosques in Batumi, Kutaisi  and Tbilisi. Numerous Orthodox Christian churches are spread throughout the country, representing the dominant religion.

It's worth noting that Catholic churches, synagogues, and mosques are present in Tbilisi, making it more convenient for tourists. Additionally, every historical site plays a positive role in elevating the capital and regional awareness.

From ancient times, one of the main purposes of tourism has been religious pilgrimage. The preservation of sacred places has contributed significantly to the spiritual fulfillment of visitors. Since the medieval period, the development of tourism for religious purposes has played a crucial role in attracting visitors interested in spiritual experiences.
