Juma Mosque of Tbilisi is the only one in the world where Shia and Sunni Muslims have been praying together for more than 150 years. A brick-built mosque stands on the slope. Neo-Gothic and Islamic elements are harmoniously combined in its architecture. An octagonal minaret stands on the gate, which attracts attention from afar. The beautiful mosaic facade of the building draws special attention and attracts many visitors. The mosque is Sunni, although today it serves both Sunni and Shiite Muslims.
In addition to this uniqueness, the Juma Mosque has two mihrabs - the place where the imam - the leader stands and leads the prayer. Here, in addition to the traditional Friday (Jumi) prayer, Eid prayers are performed and all religious holidays are celebrated.
If you want to visit the Juma Mosque, you will easily understand where to go when you arrive at the foot of Narikala in Old Tbilisi.
